steering problem

My 2003 tahoe with 118000 miles on it is making weird popping/ grinding noises in the steering shaft. when I turn it pops and shakes at low speeds, and at high speeds like around highway curves it vibrates alot and shakes and pops. I am guessing this could be an intermediate steering shaft problem? Please help I would like to fix this before I leave for college on wednesday!

take it to the dealer to have it diagnosed. they charged me $55 and told me exactly what was wrong. went home and replaced the power steering gear box.
