My guess would be the bypass moduel could be going bad. It sends the signal to the factory security system to make it belive that there is a key in the ignition upon remote start.

nd how do you explain the same problem using key directly. That is why I want the model number alarm to study its diagrams so as to isolate things that do not apply.

Dont know my Avital alarm model number off hand but I've had it since 2000 when I had it put on my truck when I got it new. A few years down the line I was having similar starting problems with and without key. Sometime I would have to sit 5 min and let security system to reset before starting with key. The remedy was I took it back to installer and they installed new bypass. That was the trouble I had and alarm & remote start are still working good to this day.

your system only interrupts the starter circuit and since that works just fine i don't think you remoter is the issue unless, when it was installed the ignition wires were cut and put back to gether with connectors that are going bad. typically with a unit such as yours you do not cut the vehicle ignition wiring. you just remove some insulation and add the unit wiring to existing one without actually severing it and butting them all together again. with the exception of your starter circuit in your case. So this is what you should try....

probe for volts on the following fuses. 23, 12, 10 and 8 with ignition switch is on but not started. if any fail to show battery voltage the wiring upstream of the fuse block is a problems and could be as a result of poor connections. do this and try to start right after to see if it started and with what result you had from testing. if all show good the problem lies in the oem security or engine electronics. start with that.

So you are saying it cranks every time, alarm or with key but takes forever to start?
If that's the case it may be fuel pressure bleeding down overnight. Does your security light on the dash come on?

Could it be the "fuel preasure regulator"?

Or - have you tried turning your alarm and auto start off and starting manually the 1st time of the day?

bleed down over night is normal a "properly" working pump can build up pressure in just a couple of seconds.

if you are replacing the regulator just upgrade the whole injector assembly if old design. however before you do that have the pressure tested first.

Remote alarm/starter systems typically shut down starter.
Do you have auxiliary tank ?
Rent a tool ,fuel press tester
