Flat head screw driver hammed in works best on the older car..

That sucks. Sorry to hear this. This happened to me a while back. Had left my window open a tiny bit. Went for a walk with the dog and as I came back down the street I could see 3 guys around my truck in our covered parking lot. They must have known it was mine because they all got in a car and drove off quick. Had ripped out the ignition barrel and the truck was running. I just stuck the barrel back in and it's been ok. They did screw it up a bit and I had to remove it recently and clean all the shavings that had accumulated in it to get it working smoothly.
I use a crooklock now just to slow them down a little.

ha lost my keys on an 86 f250 i had a long time ago. stuck out of state at night i wish the screwdriver trick worked for me. broke the screwdriver off in the ignition. ended up hot wiring my truck to get home. actually found the damn leys a week later still in that parking lot.
