Honestly james, thought they put 17” steelies under them all.

Most Denalis and Escalades are AWD. The spare tire OD must be the same as the others, regardless of what size wheel it's mounted to. I think it's reasonable to assume that GM would have provided enough room, unless they only did that on AWD-available configurations, which seems unlikely.

True, but i can guarantee its still a 17” steel rim regardless

Edit- and not an exact match

Edit#2- and is why gm says dont drive over a certain speed and to have original fixed asap

My comment was in regard to whether or not there would be enough room for a spare with the same size OD as the Escalade OEM tire size for a 22" wheel. A 285/45-22 tire has a theoretical OD of 32.1 inches. I would expect the spare on an AWD vehicle to have close to the same OD tire, even if it's mounted to a 17" wheel. A 255/75-17 works out exactly the same OD, for example.

The other size mentioned, 285/55-20 is slightly larger, at 32.3 inches OD. 0.2 inches doesn't seem like much of an obstacle to getting it to fit in there. There's probably that much variation in actual OD from brand to brand.

And my comment only said I thought they put 17” steelies under all trucks.
Nevertheless, i am wrong, as james pointed out that gm did, in fact, put larger, yet steel, rims under the trucks equipped with 22”s. Game over

I only have the 275/55/20 wheels on my denali and I just looked at my spare. It's a 265/70/17. There is about 2" clearance to the heat shield, plenty of space to bumper/hitch. Drivers side has a bracket thats pretty close though.e9adb62a56d842759c69cdbe4533e628.jpg51b62f0e533f8a46434f071ed877ae44.jpg083a44ee7d05afde989b9240dd692025.jpga4f7f7a93fe8fcd415297f56ef6f0999.jpg

Do ya'll carry a spare tire? I've been having issues with the latch being sticky. I shot about half a can of wd-40 on the latch before putting it away the most recent time I had it down. If I keep having issues with it being sticky I'm considering just deleting the tire and removing the winch/cable assembly. I'd rather not carry the 70 pounds of tire and equipment if it will get stuck when I go to take it down if I have a flat.
mine has the Spare Tire delete because it has dual mufflers... I keep it inside the SUV :) don't want to waste money on run flats

Just throw spare on top .. that's what the roof racks for . Might want pretty it up a bit splash some 303 on it .. you could buy one of those tire covers .. like on back of those old vans . Just think then you could have full size spare I'd recommend aluminum rim [emoji106].

I run my 35 inch spare on a swing out tire rack. I pulled all the spare tire winch and shields off when I went to bigger tires.
