Heh, ours also seems to have something rolling around behind the dash. Since it's an ex-sherriff's truck, we figure it's a loose round. It'll come and go, and is quite annoying when it's there.

I'll have to have a look behind the overhead console and see.

I think there is a screw loose in the ceiling. Really hard to locate where the sound is coming from. From driver seat it sounds like passenger side, but from passenger side it sounds like driver side.
Better sell it …lol

Just yesterday, a neighbor, has asked me to go on a road test later today. She said she can hear water sloshing around in the driver's door, when she accelerates and applies the brakes, like water is flopping back and forth. I cannot wait to drive it. never heard that complaint before. She insists that it is in the driver's door.

There should be a couple of drains at the bottom of the door, probably partially-hidden by the door-to-body seal. They would ALWAYS get plugged up on our '10 PPV. Simple fix, just take a Q-tip and jamb it up in the hole to clean out all the schmutz.

Driving the 2019 Tahoe (22K miles) yesterday and sounded like something broke lose all the sudden and hear something rolling around behind the dash on passenger side. I was driving maybe 35mph on smooth straight road, not like I hit a bump or curve or anything. It's not anything in the glove box or storage compartments. Any ideas?
How about in that hidden compartment behind the screen that can be raised with the button below it

After the glove box, that was the second place we looked. Nothing. Worth it for the OP to have a look, though.

I then took my endoscope and went searching in the HVAC vents and the area between the dash and console. Again, nothing.

While heading out to run errands the other day, I heard it again, and knowing that it might be up there, it certainly sounds like something's up there. Just not time to dig in yet, as it's my bride's DD. Maybe this weekend.

So when we do, any notes on how to drop that console thing? Thanks.

Finally had time, cooperative weather, and the vehicle at home so I could have a look at this issue. Sure enough, one of the overhead console mounting screws were laying in the panel and dropped into my lap when I popped the panel off to have a look. When I re-secured that screw, I figured I'd tighten the other one, just in case. It, too, was loose!

I'm thinking that these things probably never get tightened well enough during assembly because there's no straight shot to the screws with a screwdriver. Hopefully, we won't have to do that again, but I now know how, if we do.

To get to everything, you have to first pull the console cover off. That's the panel where you garage for control (if so equipped) maybe OnStar, and as was on our PPV, the console light switch. To get this off, I dropped the sunglasses holder down so I could get to the back of that panel with a plastic pry bar. There's a clip on either side of the light switch, or garage door opener buttons, depending on options. Pop those loose, close the sunglasses holder and then pull down on the back of the panel until it pops loose.

The screws secure the overhead console to the body, and are kind of hidden, being black and going into a piece of black plastic. In the pictures, I have put a circle of white marker paint on one of the screws, so you can see where it is when installed. In the pictures where you can see the marked screw, the back of the truck is to the left.

I hope this helps someone. It's certainly odd to discover the source of the sound you're CERTAIN is in the dash.
