Hello everyone, got a 2002 Z71 4x4.
Was driving down a gravel road today and hit a new washout hole hidden in a puddle that wasn't there yesterday.

The kind of hit that makes you apologize to your vehicle afterwards..

Now I have a really loud annoying metal rattle, or maybe similar to a light piece of aluminum metal dinging hard metal, and it goes on for almost the entire time I'm driving, unless the road is silk smooth.

The exact location (from what I can tell from the drivers seat, which can be deceiving when it comes to sounds), sounds like it is coming from right under the radio antenna under the cowling.

So I took the antenna mount apart, glove box, plastic under the windshield, looked under the hood, and can find nothing.

The only thing I can see that I am suspicious of is where the AC lines run into the firewall. They have play in them (which is normal), but still has the foam around them to keep them from making noise. So I'm not sure if something with the AC inside the firewall may be rattling?

I know this is a long shot, I just figured I would ask in case somebody else here had ran I to this exact issue and found out what it was.

I'm not sure what else to do other than start tearing into the dash inside

I had this issue... Check the top of the dash (where the dash and windshield meet) the corners tend to get loose and make a rattling noise. I went in and added a little padding in the corners, no more rattling.

Last time I hit a bump that hard, the coolant tees that are responsible for the rear HVAC gave up.
Every time you hit a bump that hard, take it to a mechanic, have him give it a thorough looking over.

Besides a new rear coolant T- & Y-, had to take the dashboard out to find several rattles, re-tighten a few things, put things back together with a helper.
