...and why if your tails are messed with and you get rear ended is it your fault ?

Probably means the driver of the rear vehicle can claim that the mod/paint of the tails didnt allow enough light through, indicating the vehicle was applying brakes... Same as not having functional brake lights.

exactly, its kind of a ********* law because its easily hearsay
the driver of the vehicle that rear ended you could be totally at fault in every way possible but if they notice your tails are messed with then its your fault

always carry lacquer thinner with you and just clean them off before the cops arrive :)

haha just kidding but yeah you got the process right above, I have heard people using clear so the VHT lasts longer since I've heard it chips once it starts to get old but its not completely necessary

been there done that dude, I'll get almost all the way done and **** it up on the last coat or on the clear

I just start all the way over because there is no real good way to take back what you've done

its not that hard because yours are smooth try getting the paint out of the stock grooves

what kind of clear are you using?
glossy or matte?

Sand the clear with 2000 until it looks foggy but dont go to deep there still needs to be clear on there. Then hit it with the buffer.

so if i use my buffer on it i will be able to get the foggyness out and make it look really shinny ? would that be a better route than trying to sand it down again and start over ?

Yes i would deffinantly try the buffer route first. Use rubbing compound, polish, then wax. If that doesnt work your gonna have to sand the clear all the way down.

Narco just pm me whenever your ready. Ill set you up.

my tails have caused me to go into full-blown panic mode every time I have to make a turn.

I get the **** out of the way... people are stupid and usually not paying attention. sometimes i watch my rear-view mirror as I make turns and watch the person behind me check up all like

Thats why you use LED's I never have to worry about it and mine are black.

I was the same way when I had my stocks though. Thats why I painted them then immediately went and orderd LED's.

I used Niteshade on my mustang tails ans 3rd brake light. 1000 grit wet sanded them, wiped them down with paint thinner, 4 very light coats, wet sanded with 1500 lightly, clear coated with a semi gloss clear, wet sanded with 2000 and buffed. Looked like a sheet of black glass. Like the covers, but permanent. Paint work is all the same, 99.99% in the prep work.

Wet sand the clear with 1500, and re-apply clear. Wet sand and buff and you will be all good. No need to take it all the way down and start again, it is a waste of time and materials. Unless there is a run in the paint.

Are you using a gloss clearcoat? Seems obvious, just making sure it is not flat or satin clear.

Did you check your VEH CHMSL fuse? (Fuse box by the driver door - Fuse is just a little lower than dead-center of the other fuses)
That's the one for your 3rd brake light.
