There are only two drivers in our house yet we have four vehicles my 01 Hoe lowered and built everything wife's 02 lifted fully re done suspension stock 2008 LTZ Tahoe. And a 2000 mercury Grand a Marquess. All tannish in color. Lol. Wife and I are looking at a new Yuk XL. And a new Silverado or Sierra we will keep the two NBS hoes tho. Why trade in and lose our ass on them they are easy to work on parts are pretty cheap and they both look great. We have an off road wheeling rig then and a street Beast !!!
Oh and the the Merc we paid 1700 for almost 8 years ago. No issues. It's just a back up vehicle. And or daily driver for me. Keeps the miles and wear and tear off the Beast!
Point I'm getting to is why not just fix yours up and rock it till the wheels fall off. You can get a junk yard engine for $350 -500 then do a freshen up on it for roughly $1200. And the tranny is cheaper!
Replace front suspension pitman and idler arm Timkin hubs Moog arms and ball joints inner and outer tie rod end links , new carpet $200 , headliner $100 , leather ebay $400-600 or new seats from sandrailperformance on here!
In other words it is cheaper to keep her.
I have a large family and need more room plus we own a house and property in the country so I really need a pickup again and we need either a Suburban or Yukon XL for the space

Here I Houston there are a couple of shops were you work on your own vehicle. For people in you situation. All your doing is renting the bay by the hour from them. Just like the Auto hobby shops on a military base! The pitman and idler arm you can do on your back in a parking lot. Shocks the same way.
Took the time to run through my invoices and memory and have come up with a pretty comprehensive list. I am glad I did this, because it somewhat confirmed my prediction that I was really overestimating my expenses.
In general, I've put 7.7k into the truck for recommended maintenance, repairs, paint, and a high-mile tune up (replace key gaskets, all hoses, etc. to prevent wear repairs) since the beginning of 2011, and about 2.2k in 2014 from 2 incidents. This does not include tires or oil changes, as there is nothing aftermarket about my tires and the oil changes are universal.
About 2.9-3k in mods since I started modding it in early 2013, list found in my build thread in my signature.
Even together, these costs are far less than a payment on a used NNBS, and arguably increase its value for enthusiasts/private buyers, despite decreasing its value to dealers.
All of that said, I regret starting at 5, and am taking down the listing, to probably relist between 8 and 10 and waiting for the right buyer.
My question to you experienced folks: Let's say things hit the fan down the road, and I need a new engine. Could this truck still sell even if it was towed to the buyer? Obviously not for 8, but for something.
Edit: $1,000 to a roof repaint, $100 for scratch fix ups, $50 towards some DIY leather repair, and my reminders of this truck's age are gone. But is it worth it?

Sorry man... but 8-10k is way out of range. As far as maintenance costs and modification costs, neither of those really matter to the buyer, they are going to pitch it to you like all they want and want to pay for is a stock truck and your mods are just extras included. Also you can't really transfer maintenance costs to be the buyer lol. Oh yay the roof has been painted, but they can turn around and find one that didn't need it in the first place and not have that extra 1k transferred to them. I paid $9400 for mine in near excellent condition with only 70k miles... you want the same for one with over 200k?
Not trying to be mean, just realistic. These are things I ran across while searching and ended up with mine.
But in the event your engine blows and you don't want to fix/replace it, yes you can still sell the truck. However I wouldn't expect much.

Only paid 4k for my well maintained 2001 Yukon XL 2500 4x4 with 196k miles. But I am not worried about dropping some extra money on maintenance. I own the vehicle. I prefer not to have a loan on a vehicle. It depends on how you feel about the vehicle. I like my Yukon and plan on swapping in a Duramax and adding other performance items. Will I ever see a return? No, I never will. But that's not why I am doing it. I have dropped 50k on my sports car over the last ten years increasing its performance. I could never get that money back unless I sold it in pieces, but its worth it it to me every time I start it up and take it for a drive. The smile it puts on my face makes it worth it. Trade in value on anything older than six years is crap. Warranties are usually expired at that point and dealers who accept the trade in, just send them strait to auction. If you can afford a $1000 a month payment for a new truck, I would suggest buying a house first and keeping the vehicle that you already own and maintaining it.

Try 220k.
Driver's seat leather is all ripped up, but that's 220k miles of ass. That's really the only issue on the interior. Exterior main problems are the roof (which y'all have seen me complain about all year) which truly needs a repaint.
try the seat shop (they have a youtube channel). My seats were shot and for about $300, got them very nice with new leather and bolseter and makes the interior look brand new
