So, how long do the dash panels last before they start cracking?

I bought this '11 Tahoe from the original owner and it is a nice unit. The only downside is that the dash is cracked which is normal. I am seriously considering buying another dash panel from the factory and replacing it. So the question is for anyone that may have purchased theirs new. How long did it take before your dash started cracking? The new panels are pricey (shipping cost is the real killer) and I am trying to decide if it would be worth the price.

if you get it from a dealer there is no shipping cost, as for how long the new design last's no telling.

Well, my local dealer says that it's a special order and there will be shipping. That puts it about $500 more than I can order from one of the other dealers online including shipping.

you can get it from any GM dealer, call around and don't be afraid to ask for a discount many dealers will give a % off all you have to do is ask and the worse they can say is no

There's an outfit called 'DASHSkin' that has a good reputation. They're Okies, but don't hold that against them.

Try another dealer or save the $500 and buy from that online one.

One local dealer here is similar. I can order from another one shipped to my door for the rip off prices they want.

In northern climates they last longer. My 2009 has no cracks and it was covered up years ago with a dash mat. My 2013s dash came cracked, it's from Oklahoma.

The typical airbag crack was caused by the bracket screw underneath being too tight.

1. Garage
2. Ceramic tint
3. No cracks or interior fading/damage.

If you don’t garage it the ceramic tint really helps though.

A few have pulled the old dash and replaced them. The problem is GM doesn’t add enough UV inhibitors into the dash material. They’ll crack again if you don’t keep it out of the sun which defeats the purpose of replacing it to look at it.

Wes found a Denali that had a leather dash with French seams installed over the factory dash. I was going to do that when the windshield was out of our Denali but found GM already did that on Platinum Esky’s.

I wanted a/c seats which are not a bolt in option so it was easier to swap to an Esky with leather dash & a/c seats.

Just ordered one for my wife's 2014 Yukon XL. It is in perfect condition except for the dash. Thank you!

The dealers don’t stock them due to the size of the box they’re in. I bought one shipped from an online dealer cheaper than any local dealer. They’re stored in warehouses in a few locations across the country. Check total cost to your door, shipping included. The new ones are a slightly improved design that supposedly won’t crack but who knows. Prepare to pay $400-500. It’s an afternoon or better part of a day to replace one. Sun is the killer.
