I picked these up and was hoping I could prep and paint them myself. They are made of urethane so they are a lot more flexible than the stockers. The instructions say scrub them very good with ajax and a brillo pad until they have a dull finish and then clean them with warm water and soap. I think I can handle that, but I'm wondering what method to use as far as paint goes.

This was kinda my plan:
Duplicolor adhesion promoter?
Duplicolor flexible primer
sand with fine grit
Duplicolor gloss black
wet sand?
gloss black again
Duplicolor clearcoat

What do you guys think?

Sorry guys, I put this in the wrong section. Someone can move it if they want to.

I bought them from a member on the denali forum for $125 shipped. The taillights came from eBay seller x3racing.

Do they "need" paint? Are they currently splotchy or not uniform looking? 'Cause maybe you could get away with just using Pledge on them. (Lemon Pledge is great on all black plastic/rubber parts...)

Yeah with your nice ride, i would leave it to the paint shop. Should be alot less than 100 bucks. (unless you have your old ones to try to paint first and see how they come out, if you like it then try it, if it comes out bad then you can always go the paint shop and have them do it.. But they will charge for redoing it.. (some do anyway)
