My transmission is having the first signs of slipping the last couple days. I am a big fan of forced upgrades. Anyone replace theirs? What they paid or I should expect to pay? I got ripped off when I had a Ford expedition.
Also considering selling it, after doing all the brakes, the whole hub assembly, and now this in the last 1000 miles. I have to have a reliable rig. Open to all suggestions! Thanks

I'd say the gear ratio killed it.... Too big tires on stock gears... On my obs a really good specialist charged me 1300 for my trans but for yours I'd say close to 2k

^ +1!

These trucks are NOT designed by the factory for all this extra weight/force on the transmission or other body parts for that matter.

I have 101000 on it right now. I'm starting to believe that new cars explode at 100k now :)

Cool, that gives a a good base to work with. Thanks.

That's pretty disturbing. To think the transmission in a $50,000 vehicle will only travel 100,000 miles before imploding.

Based upon 100,000 miles, you have paid 50 cents per mile just for the transmission........ and now you have to rebuild or buy a new transmission too!

This is why foreign cars sales are kicking GM in the butt, 100,000 mile warranties compared to GM's 36,000 mile warranty.

Sheriff is no longer in Love with his Tahoe, ............... VERY SORRY, VERY SAD!

However, Foreign vehicles are not all that better either. I had a BMW and even though the tranny and engine were dead solid, I needed new control arm bushings as well as Struts and a waterpump at 100K miles. My better half has an '06 NISSAN Murano, it needed new control arms and bushings as well as front axles seals and struts @ 92K miles.

Sorry, but I just think that things are not made as well anymore as they used to be. Everyone is trying to save costs and buys Chinese parts (Trust me, I know, ........ I work for a German Rail Vehicle Manufacturer and we do the same to drive down the product costs), but the workforce continuously wants more wages, more time off and better benefits.

Think about how hard our grandfathers worked, .......... with less pay, benefits and time off.

I am sorry, I think this is just the nature of the beast, regardless if foreign or domestic. And at least on my Yukon I can work, I can "get to" things without having to disassemble 4 hours worth of Tupperware (plastics) in order to get to a waterpump (like on my BMW).

All GM vehicles, 2007 and up, come with a 100,000 mile powertrain warranty. I purchased my 2007 Avy brand new and five years later, after 55,000 miles, my tranny started slipping then whinning and finnally gave in a period of a week. The dealer covered the cost and completely rebuilt my transmission. It also came with a new one year warranty. You may be able to get the dealer to work with you about being 1000 miles over. Ya know, just tell em you haven't had time to get over there or somethin like that.

Ok I call bs on forein cars. Toyota tundrus tend to blow the trans and rear end... Any car will last as long as it is taken care of and if modified then modified correctly

Yeah, safe all the add ons and put big tires and whatever else on the next rig, I am sure it will help the next one to survive longer.

Just curious, when did you change all those fluids and did you use OEM?

Too bad, I liked the look of your truck. Which tranny does the 1500 HD come with?

Post pics of the new rig.

Smart aleck! :happy175:

At my expense, Chevrolet today replaced my entire throttle body assembly. You would not believe the difference in the way this Tahoe now drives. No more sluggishness, no more stuck open throttle (so far, knock on wood), a pleasure to drive.

I had always told my daughter that this Tahoe didn't drive as well as my Ford Excursion and that I could not get used to the way it drives. But that certainly changed this morning with the new part being put on.

Would have been much nicer if they had covered this part under warranty, but I feel better about an 18 year old daughter driving it now. It had boiled down to a matter of money vs safety, and safety won.

If and when I buy my new Suburban soon, I will make my best deal, then refuse to to buy it unless they knock off another $386.04. It's that simple. :)

If you hate your truck so much sell it to me. I've always wanted a Z71. I have $5 in my wallet right now. Deal?

I will sell it to you for ONE DOLLAR. If you agree to these terms...

One dollar today.
Double it tomorrow.... two dollars.
Double it the third day..... four dollars.
The fourth day........... eight dollars.
Fifth day..... sixteen dollars.
And so on, continue to double it every day for 30 days straight.

Imagine having a really nice low mileage Z71 Tahoe paid for in 30 days!
:)
