Lesson learned, never ever buy a car that is dirty or in my case covered in salt in the middle of winter.

As soon as I had a chance to wash it, I noticed a bunch of little specs of rust at the bottom of the doors and the front fenders and even the quarter panels, so I had a plan for the fenders, repair the rust and then apply Z71 fender flares.

Sanded with 120 grit, then 220, treated the metal, self etching primer, filler primer and then Rustoleum black paint, honestly it turned out better than I had expected and since I live on dirt roads, this vehicle is practically always covered in some sort of mud and dust so the perfect finish was not at all a concern of mine.

Once I am content with the rust control fender flares will be mounted, likely in the coming week.

Follow all that up with a good application of Fluid Film or Wool Wax. Spray it everywhere inside the fenders, rockers, frame, etc. It may help slow down the return of what you fixed. You might even find a shop that does it reasonable on FB Marketplace

Where did you order those flairs from?
Found them on ebay around 225$ but the listing has gone missing, they had one set. They are the typical chineese made ones, I really wanted the Buschwacker but don't feel like dumping 500$ on that set. Cheaper is better for this vehicle. Any money sunk in it will never be recovered.

If your truck is rusted just like mine was, it might be good to check the area in the back door frame to see how solid it is… mine was rusty on the bottom in a similar fashion but these dog legs were rotten behind the paint (nothing had come through yet)

When your paint repair looks nicer than the original paint :happy107:
Maybe it's dirty?

I bought the same kit on Ebay. And just an FYI. The cutout for the fuel door is more of an asthenic choice than functional, IT works but doesnt allow the door to open all the way. But I did the flares same reason you did. Rust hiding! lol.

Looks great! I think it's the best looking escalade I've seen..
Definately the black wheels.

More details on your hood vents..

I like the way your front flares edge up on the fender vents..
Never liked the way those vents looked, but it looks good with the flares!

I was looking for a way to take some heat out from under the hood which helps with everything and this set of vents was bought off Amazon for my other car but never installed. Since my hood is not in perfect shape I decided to cut it up and the end result was shockingly good. They fit perfectly.

What wheels do you have in the first pic? They look great imo.
20" Jeep Wagoneer wheels on 275/55/20 winter tires. The other set I have are 18" wheels from a RAM 1500 with black wheel skins on them.

Huh interesting… I didn’t realize Wagoneers had the same lug pattern.

Well, I am kind of looking for a set of new rims for my 275/55/20s… if you ever were to want to get rid of them… ;)

Nissans use the identical hub pattern and bore. I used to use Nissan Armada wheels as my winter wheel/tire set.

Well Attention has shifted to the much more rust free Escalade 2.0. Would love to keep them both but one will have to go, but while i have them together, I will enjoy them.
