RSE 2023 - Is Miracast/USB streaming back?

Can anyone confirm whether Miracast functionality or the ability to stream the USB outlets is back in the 2023 rear media system?

Have a 23 suburban with RSE. miracast and external usb storage are not an option. What I did was a chromecast with a usb hub attached to it, ordered some short usb cables from Amazon for a clean installation and you'll have all your netflix, youtube, casting and local usb.

It might be possible to connect the truck to your phone as a hot spot, but what a lot of people have done is get a small streaming stick and use the HDMI input.

mine is a 2021, but we have Amazon fire stick plugged into hdmi ports, I bought the $200/year unlimited wifi and away it goes. Works pretty good

Assuming I can't drop the option from my accepted order, I'll likely do something similar to you albeit with a Roku. I just hate the notion of not being able to control it all from the front seat and either need to let the kids do it or climb into the back/lean around the seat for me or my wife to do it ourselves.

This is a major flop on GM's part.

You will only see Hulu YouTube and YouTube kids, and its not even the actual app. when I select the YouTube icon it would go to a web browser. I didn't like the RSE at first but after adding the chromecast its amazing!! You still can control the rse from the front like switch the sound to the main speakers or Bluetooth, or change the sources for the screens

I saw the 2023 model, and nothing changed on the RSE screen.

This is a terrible system for the intended target audience of small children. I have never seen an RSE system as limited as this one, every system prior to this on any manufacturer had the ability to play off dvd/blu-ray/usb, with the playback controls from front driver/passenger of the vehicle.

Streaming quality highly depends on the quality of your network connection, and even in the greatest areas like NYC still suffer from going under tunnels, and between large building and dead zones near the water.

Even when Jeep brand moved to amazon fire OS. they allow USB playback.

I suspect this is a limitation on Google Automotive OS, this OS was not ready for prime time, Amazon automotive is way ahead of Googles system. GM made the wrong choice.

Glad I don’t have it. Blows my mind why they went backward with it, seems like the 2021 implementation had lots of promise…and they just eroded it into something less.

With the number of bugs/quirks in the infotainment system up front…not surprised. GM had a pretty good vehicle architecture and then went Google….

We just picked up our Yukon XL Denali last night and haven't played with the RSE very much but I did notice that we are missing the YouTube Kids "App". We only have Hulu and YouTube. Still trying to figure out if there is an update or reset or something to fix this. I have seen other Denali's with Hulu, YouTube, YouTube Kids, and Disney+, so not sure why ours don't have this.

I picked up my Denali last week. It has the first 3 you noted but not Disney+. I have not seen a way to add apps but haven’t spent too much time trying. I bought 2 chromecasts to use for trips. Would be great if it was all on the screen and didn’t require another device.

I mistyped that, it doesn't come with disney+ but we are still missing youtube kids which sucks.

Is Magic box an external hard drive?

The magic box has a USB drive to connect for movies, hdmi output and turns the front CarPlay into a android with the play store. It is pretty neat also if you don't have wireless CarPlay or AA it makes it wireless too. I like that it comes with a keyboard remote.
