Rocker switch panel ideas

Curious if anybody has done a rocker switch panel (these things). I've already drilled a hole in firewall for aftermarket devices, would like to add a few switches. Would be really cool if there's something for the blank spots in the dash, red box below...

I'm going to wire up a fan switch to command the high speed fan on.

There is a guy on eB that is 3D printing (GMT-800) various mini-panels either as blanks or with small rockers included. I need one or two to replace the cassette deck and possibly the cubby below it. I'll see if I can locate that name.

I'd want such a control much closer to my LEFT hand, on the LEFT side of the steering wheel.

@Marky Dissod good idea... I like the left hand side too. It makes wiring simpler too as that's where the junction blocks are for the dash (at the ends), the factory grommet, and grommet I drilled (in clutch master cylinder area) are there too.

I've long wanted a shelf above the windshield as well. That would be a good spot for a few buttons but as of now nobody makes a shelf like that. They're only in transit vans and semi trucks so far as I can tell.

LMC sells, or at least used to sell, full width shelves that attach through the sun visor mounting holes. They have holes to remount the visors to them.

Looks like LMC no longer sells 'em, or at least they're out of stock for now.
Why is black $135, but tan is $130?

Looks like VDP USED TO make them, cannot find them available anywhere.
Part number looks like VDP SH1115?

than a company that appears to no longer make it, and got a dismal review of it back when they did.

Their execution is what's dismal, to be improved upon by, say, you.

The questionable detail I saw was that the reviewer's home built job didn't appear to have a lip, at the rear, to keep stuff from sliding off into your lap.

I don't say he was lying, but the reviewer reminded me of many poorly thought out reviews on Amazon.

I've not seen the firm's dismal execution, but the fact that this firm no longer appears to make the product in question is also telling.
If we are forced to execute instead of buying an out-of-production part, that gives US options.

Very strong suspicion, not quite a conclusion.
I leave the conclusion - the decision to make one - to each of us.

Personally, gonna make my templates out of cardboard, gonna make one for the driver and one for the passenger.

If you don't have a sun roof, there is a surprising amount of room up there. Also, the older roof consoles that ran from the windscreen to the center ceiling light still have provisions in our ceilings. So you could snag one of those, too.
