The primary would be the wiring from the parking light positive to activate the relay so the secondary side is the power from the battery to the relay and when the primary is closed / activated, it will send power out to the fog lights. This way you totally isolated the higher current draw to just the battery. HTH

So would this cause the fogs to run all the time since the parking lights are tied into the drl

Well I'd have to look at how my lights come on but you could use one of the side marker lights possibly for the relay primary and then they would only come on with the auto or lights on setting.

I think if I can't figure out how to use factory fog switch. I'll just connect to relay using side marker . Then fog lights would only come on with high and low beams

But would this not still cause the fogs to run all the time if you leave your lights on auto?

Anyone care to explain the wiring of these to a layman? I am wanting to add fogs to my LT suburban and have no idea how best to wire these up. I don't care if they are on all the time the headlights are on but would like them to go off on brights. Thanks!

I have currently installed on my wife's tahoe . I have my lights hooked up to trailer parking lights fuse to control fog light relay. When the lights are on auto the fog lights only come on when head lights are needed .

We have LT model but if u look carefully. The headlights are on during the day but not the parking lights . That's why I tapped the trailer parking lights fuse . Once it gets dark enough at dusk the parking lights come on and your headlights go full power. That's when the fog lights would then turn on.

Did tapping it this way affect your intellibeam at all? I have someone installing mine in the morning so I am trying to figure out how to have him wire them up. Thanks for posting and for your help.

Intellibeam still works correctly. I use the trailer parking lights to send signal to the fog light relay that comes with the fog light kit I used. So the only time the fog lights turn on is when its dark enough for the parking lights to turn. Which means your head lights will be at full power. So when your car is in park the parking lights are on and the fog lights will be on. Once you put the car in drive the parking lights turn off /fog lights and head lights turn on.

Can you post pics of how they look with lights on and where they installed the switch?

I've also been questioning how involved it would be to install the OEM fog switch.

Bootlegfab - any updates on the wiring and switch?

subscribed.... really looking to figure out how to get them wired up.

I think I want to do this, but I want them to work. Don't care if HID/non HID. Anyone have any success?

Has anyone installed the fog lamps through the factory switch?

Just wondering if anyone has hooked up the fog lights via factory switch or other means ?

I ordered the fog lights off ebay and it come with wiring harness / relay . Ordered switch 23187804 off Amazon. I was looking at wiring schematic and thinking I could control fog light relay using the control wire coming from factory switch .

Any new updates if anyone has installed oem/aftermarket foglight kits??

Still waiting on a thread where someone actually wires these fog lights up and makes them functional...

Here's a thread I posted on using the OE switch with aftermarket fog lamps. Enjoy!

Does anyone know how to remove the left dash panel where the light switch/4x4 control is located? I don't want to scratch up the wife's new 'Burban figuring that part out. Thanks

If you still need help taking that dash panel off, I documented it in my fog lamp install thread. Cheers.

That's great! Thanks for the write-up. Do you get the dashboard indicator light showing the fogs on?

I'm thinking about tapping the blue indicator wire for the trigger on my harness. Wonder if that would foul the BCM...

Thanks again-

My 15 LT didn't come with fog lights either. I ordered them off carid.com i believe they were about $80.00 with shipping. We had them installed by a friend who is a professional, and he hid the switch in the panel so my fog lights are on 24/7 whenever the car is running.
