Just go my Matte Black Sierra Replica wheels. I placed the black lug nuts I ordered on them and I am able to see the unfinished around the lug hole. Meaning the black finish does not come close enough to the hole it self. Anyone else have this problem?

Depends on brand i guess. I have black 24" sierra reps from factory reproductions and have no problem. 22" esky platinum black reps from them too and no problem. Black all the way down and no real thin spots that i can see.

Hmm. No lug nut would cover that. I wonder why that did it that way

The lugs I bought are apparently smaller. They are 19mm compared to the 22mm that comes standard. The 19mm appear like they will still do the job, would anyone disagree?

This is the bore hole finish on a set of 2016 wheels. Appears the are unfinished (dull).

That's a beautiful wheel, but they should have applied finish all the way through.

Some mfg dont coat the lug mating surface for 2 reasons. Applying an even coat unless it chrome dip would be difficult so it makes it slightly easier for them. Also having paint/ powder coat/ or chrome right to the lug mating surface can cause the lug nut to "stick" to it making it fairly difficult to remove the lug nut after the wheels have been mounted for a while. Also chrome plated wheels as shown in the above picture tend also to not be plated into that area especially being most modern wheels are aluminum. Once the chrome plate has been damaged by a wobbly socket or just an idiot not being careful will allow the aluminum underneath to be exposed. Bare exposed aluminum will pit and corrode then causing the chrome to get pushed off. So as the comment about it being brand specific is true as some mfg will coat them further into the lug surface and just expect the owner and whatever garage they use to use care.

I just expected them to have a more finished look to them. I bought 19mm lugs by mistake and didn't notice until I test fit them and saw that they were too small. I have 22mm lugs on order that do a better job covering. They agreed to give me another $10 per wheel discount on them so I paid $170 each. Guess I can't complain too much. LoL

Honestly id prefer the Unfinished hole like in the chrome one you posted. My 97 tahoe had ultra rims on it when i bought it maybe ill snap a pic and post the link for it sometime. The rims were not cared for very well and would be a pretty good example of what happens to chrome plated aluminum when its been dinged in the lug area and not cared for like they should be. Ntm im going to have to let the shop bash the center caps out for the same reason. Lol anyone know if ultra would sell me replacement center caps? I might have them blasted and stripped of chrome and powder coated a light silver.
