Hey guys, just joined the Forums. I have been on here frequently and learned a lot by reading what you guys have to say. Decided to finally join in.

I want to have a bit of a more aggressive sound coming out of my truck and want to replace the muffler. Right now i dont have the money for a complete new exhaust with pipes but i was wondering if any of you guys had just replaced the muffler itself and left the stock piping or just dumped it off the muffler. I saw DJTricky's and i seem to want to do something like that. What is the price and how hard is it to do on your own?

Thanks guy

I went with the thrush glasspack with dual inlet single outlet. It ran me like 50 bucks plus another 45 to install. Nice deep sound with very minimal interior resonance, actually quiter than what I thought but it will do for now. Part number you will need is 24218.

I kept the stock piping, but I cut off the piece that exits behind the tire because last time I went off roading, the mud caked up so much that it bent the pipe and cut my exhaust flow, killing the engine. I would abstain from dumping it as you want backpressure in order to keep the scavenging effect and so you dont actually kill your torque numbers, and not to mention it is illegal and unsafe(Carbon monoxide poisoning on extended idling) on SUV's. Trucks you can dump as long as they are AFTER the cab.

welcome. if you plan on spending a small amount, expect about $150 and less. you can buy a flowmaster 40-series muffler for $90, i did. i kept the stock piping and just had the muffler installed and it sounds just like i wanted to. if you'd like i have a video of it on youtube, just search my username, drowndindreams

I actually went to a pep boys and bought it there. Make sure you check the box though, the first one I opened up was a dual inlet and single outlet, your looking for a single inlet and single outlet.

I want to do similar but I want to change the rear pipe....

I would like to run a dual inlet & single 3'' outlet, with the 3" pipe going back out where the stock pipe sits.....

I think the only muffler like that is a FM 50 series.... Anyone done anything like that?

i knew i wasn't seeing things when i took a look at my Yukon when it was up on the lift! sweet.
now my question is if it's even possible to get dual outlets, exiting opposite sides behind the wheels...
tho i think from the sound of an older thread i just read, i think it's gonna have to be a custom job ;_;

I'm running a single Magnaflow 18 inch casing from the stock piping with no cats and a 5 inch tip to the back rear tire. Sounds good. A little loud, but I think if I still had cats it would be perfect.

Pic of where my exhaust exits.

I have a DI/DO 40 series in mine, I really don't like flowmaster but it was on there when I bought it. It's dumped before the axle and very annoying. Hopefully I'll get it replaced with a magnaflow or dynomax and run some tips
