Have a 2001 Tahoe with Factory Sub Non Bose system. Sub woofer was blown for bought a 8" Kicker Shallow Sub with matching 300 Watt Amp ($130). Pulled rear trim pieces and had the rear cover off in about 10 minutes.
The Kicker 8" fit perfect in the factory enclosure after trimming the plastic trim from the side of the speaker.
Factory enclosure is .3 cubic feet. There is room to make a .4 ft box and still fit the same space. Other option is a .5 ft box but need to relocate the jack.
Kicker specs are for a .4 ft sealed box.
My plan was to make a .4 ft box but:
Questions:
1. Impact of using the .3 ft box?
2. Any benefit of a .5ft box?
