Replaced all A/C parts. Charge appears good. Not blowing cold.

This HVAC system in this truck has been a nightmare from day 1. I used to be able to give it a charge a few times during the summer and it was fine. Each year it degraded until finally the charge was leaking right out somewhere. No matter how much dye and nights with a black light I never found it. This year before summer starts I decided to replace everything. Evaporator, Compressor, Condenser, All lines, The accumulator etc. I even added an Aux electric fan. All parts are aftermarket. Condenser is half as thick. Charged it up and Even though i can feel the liquid going through the expansion line into the evap and I can feel the heat coming from the discharge of the compressor and condenser , I cannot get air temp from the vent below 60 while driving. I need to get new adapters for my gauges to hook up and check high and low side so for now all i can go by is the dummy gauge on the refrigerant can. I also have access to the evap from a hole I cut to remove it and then covered it up with the cutout and some tape. I even checked the evap while running and it is not getting any frost, No water drip from the drain pan. This is driving me nuts. All this work for it to work the same as the old parts..Very frustrating to say the least.

Need high and low pressure readings and sounds like you could have a blend door problem. Others will chime in as well.

I know, I know, did not have blend door problem before but that is the thing, you had no blend door problem till you worked on it. That may be the whole thing.

I'll be working on getting those pressures soon. Although The blend door could be a problem. I was able to see the actuator rotating when switching from cold to hot. Also the temp difference was significant. But since the rubber was rotted away on all the other doors that I replaced the blend door could be a part of the problem also. I'll post back with pressures when i get them. Thanks for the reply.

Did you pump ot down to 29-30 for a 1/2 hour? Sound like it could be internal ice.

Please remember that the inches of vacuum will vary depending on the elevation of where you are at when running the vacuum pump. You can go to Death Valley, below sea level, and get better than 30 inches of vacuum.

I pumped it down to -26 but for only about 5mins. ( I admit I was being impatient). My new gauge adapters came in yesterday so I am going to redo it. I am thinking I have a leak somewhere. After a few days of sitting when I used the trucks a/c I can hear the pressure valve on the A/c compressor blowing off pressure. I will start from scratch. I may be getting air from having to switch hoses to the fill bottle or i have a leak.

Ok, I just hooked up my new adaptors and gauges. I was able to get it down to -26/27 Let it sit for 20mins. It went up to -18. So I have a very small leak somewhere. I doubt the UV dye is going to come out with that small of a leak. It's the reason I replaced everything. I was plagued with a leak I never found. All brand new parts and back at square one UGH.

We are just above sea level here.

I say either add more dye, different dye, or get a better light and keep looking. I've had multiple leaks in the last year or 2. The most recent (2 nights ago) it was what I think was a pinhole or nearly microscopic crack in the line that goes to the compressor. It wasn't leaking much but as you can see the dye made it very obvious.

If your engine bay is really dirty I'd start with pressure washing the crap out of it so there's no dirt or grime blocking you from seeing the dye.

I have a pretty serious UV flashlight. I will have to get another can of dye. I also just ordered an electronic refrigerant leak detector off amazon for 27 bucks . I am hoping it will be something stupid like one of the pressure switches. Since the engine leaks oil it is pretty dirty under the hood. But all my components are brand new. All new lines also.
