Well gents, took me 12 hours to get home yesterday, but the open road was great in the Nali! He rolled home with zero issues, and got a bath in cedar city to get rid of all the icky salt and snow leftovers I drove through just north of Provo yesterday morning. He was pretty dirty. Lol. got some really great photos of some beautiful scenery in southern Utah that I got to see in daylight yesterday! Beautiful snow capped mountains in northern Utah...

Having to drive through state line at the California/Nevada border on a Sunday afternoon was an absolute shit show.....
good god it was like the Wild West... people driving all over the place trying to get around the traffic jam of having to slow down for the border crossing. Which was so dumb because they literally just waived everyone through.... :doh2:
but anyways, here was the final mileage tally when I pulled back into my driveway, just before 7pm!

They do some kind of State border crossing enforcement?

Sometimes. Though its usually just to enforce regular vehicles not bringing in commercial size truckloads of agricultural products. It’s pretty simple. I hadn’t been out of state since last October when I flew privately so I didn’t know what was going on. I panicked a little bit, when I saw the massive back log of traffic, thinking they were looking for proof of recent negative covid tests to allow entry into the state. It was NOTHING of the sort. So I don’t know what they were looking forward but as we slowed and went through the booths they just waived all the cars through. It was so unnecessary and redundant. I’m like seriously. That just cost me an hour of drive time.... :banghead: way to go California.... way to go....

Well, it’s off on an another adventure, just me and the trusty road tank off to mammoth mountain. Got the first half of my exam for my next level snowboard teaching certification. Two days to test my snowboarding skills and sea if they’re up to national level 3 standards. Meeting a couple of the other instructors I work with back at bear, up here for the exam tomorrow. But chose to travel and room by myself. I just do better that way and don’t have to worry about packing light to fit in someone else’s car for the drive. The benefits to having a long wheel base rig haha.

left big bear about 9am after topping off my coolant reservoir. Smooth drive with no truck issues. 283 miles on the trip computer from big bear to main lodge at the mammoth mountain ski area, where I'm staying in the hotel owned by the ski resort, cuz I get employee discount, though because of F***ing Covid it’s not much of a discount anymore..... sucks....

Anyways here’s a couple shots from the trip: passing socal logistics airport

Really boring desert drive til you hit the base of the Sierra Nevada’s and even then it still pretty bare land.

This is Whitney portal, unfortunately covered in clouds, lol. And the visitor center parking lot where you can normally go in and park and do all sorts of cool stuff, including a cool photo op with Whitney in the background, was closed cuz of you know what.... I swear California pisses me off more than any other place in the world, especially in these small rural areas.....
anyways truck photo at Whitney portal: 95D10829-4379-40CC-B339-C4BF82F895D2.jpeg 31710BE2-7A1F-44A5-A70B-955FE85C5BBC.jpeg

And finally tucked into the parking garage neatly for the next couple days while I take my exam. I usually don’t do parking garages, especially in mammoth. They’re terribly small, have narrow short parking spots and can be extremely difficult to manuaver in and out of. but mammoth is expecting some snow the next two days, so it’ll be nice to not have to clear snow off the truck Friday morning when I go to pack up to head home. Lol.

Bummer man. That stinks. I’m sure you were still able to have fun with all that fresh powder though!

And you know, you’ll get it handled next time!
