remving tape deck/ rear audio controls

i removed my factory cd player and went to an aftermarket can i some how remove my tape deck and get a cubby hole for it ? and the rear audio controls can i remove them also? i have seen base model ones with out the tape deck and rear controls and mine is a 01 suburban lt

I took my tape deck out but it cut out all the sound. Haven't figured out how to bypass that so I plugged it back in and it sits underneath everything now. I have a converter there now. Back controls shouldn't be too hard. Keep us updated and hopefully someone else has a little more info!
