There is a battery in there you could replace. By the ring part, theres a small indention you can use a thin coin to open. My fob battery is too scratched up to read the number, and I know they had at least two different fobs, so not sure if they are the same battery. A quick search found 4 batteries for less than $5.

Not sure if your battery was weak, but just to throw something off the wall out there: You might have a stronger battery voltage, now your receiver is more powerful, and needs a stronger transmitter.. (TO BE COMPLETELY HONEST, this is just me trying to come up with SOME REASON, and this could be completely stupid), but I do want to say I have heard something like this before, where they replaced the fob battery after replacing the main battery and it worked.

When I press the unlock button on the fob, the lights on the truck flash (it's supposed to actually unlock the doors after the flash happens, but that's the part that it's not doing). So, since it's flashing, is the truck getting a strong enough signal, or do you think I should still try changing the fob battery?

Is it still locking the truck, and activating the alarm? So its just not UNlocking the doors, but everything else is the same?

Ok, I had to search a Silverado site, and see what I could find. I can't say that its 100% identical, but most of it usually is, and there are a lot more pickups out there.

What I found is you don't need to reprogram the remote after you change the battery. (I Know I changed my truck battery, and didn't need to reprogram it).
The receiver is supposedly in the passenger door lock module. I would get a couple feet away from the passenger door, and see if you can get it to lock/unlock with the remote. I found three threads with this same problem. ALL OF THEM, said the problem was fixed after they bought a new Fob. Which I see you can get 2 for about $15 on ebay and amazon. HOWEVER, None of them mention the lights working but the locks not, just that the ENTIRE fob would not work after changing the battery. If you are getting your lights to work, then you have to be transmitting and receiving a signal. I don't know enough to say if its only getting part of a signal.

EDIT: I have an 02, so I don't know if you even have this, but could this be a setting in the DIC that would have got reset that needs to be turned on???

DIC is the driver information center, the stuff on your dash that shows mileage trans temp etc. scroll through it until you see reprogram fobs. You shouldn’t need to do this but it’s worth a try.
