I had the unfortunate mishap of having a car wash remove my rear wiper arm from my Tahoe. The car wash ordered me a new arm but I'm not about to let the suds jockeys try to replace it for me.

The only part left on the Tahoe is the little piece that attaches to the motor. It is a tapered press fit connection that his held on by a bolt. The bolt came off easy enough but the tapered connection has likely rusted together and won't come off. I have put some PB Blaster soaking on it and tried tapping it lightly up and down but I don't want to hit it too hard and damage the motor.

Normally I'd use some heat and a puller to free a connection like this but I don't have a puller small enough for this task and I can't really directly heat the metal sleeve since it's surrounded by the base of the arm.

Unless someone has ideas on how to break the tapered joint free I may try and attach the new arm piece to the old base. It's a bit tricky as the spring is very stiff and needs to be stretched to the base.

Use a micro torch to heat it and the claw end of a hammer. Worked for me.

Micro torch, as in the little ones used for electronics etc? Nice idea, I don't have one but now I have an excuse to get one!

I did remember I had a battery terminal puller that is small enough to fit the end of the arm, but it by itself couldn't remove it and I didn't want to light up the MAP gas torch. lol
