Rear Audio Controls causing whine.

Sometimes my rear Audio starts to whine. If I A. turn the rear controller on or B. hit it with my fist, It stops. All I want is to disonnect this feature that i do not use. all it controls is my radio(rear A/c control is in the headliner) I just need to know if it is a simple unplug or do i need to do some re wiring. If so What wiring do i need to do? Thanks
