Radio doesn't turn off when...

I lock the truck after getting out of the front passenger seat/door. Is this some sort of glitch? When I unlock the tahoe and enter from the front passenger door, turn on the radio, then exit, and lock the truck, the radio stays on. Very bizarre. I came across this while installing my Lockpick and Bluefusion units.

Completely normal.

It will only shut off via opening the drivers side door. It will go off after about 10 minutes though if left alone.

That answers a question I have about the dome light. I left my liftgate open for a bit while unloading stuff. It had been a while and I noticed that the interior lights were off. I guess the interior lights turn off after about 10 minutes even if doors are still open?

Yes. I am not sure though exactly how long they do stay on with the doors open (it might be less time then that), but they do go off after a short period of time (assuming no new doors are opened). It's a safety feature to prevent battery rundown.

What is the sensor called that controls this? The radio in my '05 Tahoe has been staying on until I open the pass side door. It is very annoying.

sounds like a bad driver side door switch.. the bcm isn't seeing the door open. so the radio doesn't know to shut off.

I took a quick look but didn't see the switch. Where is it located.

It works correctly and shuts off about 2 out of 5 tries. It seems to be slightly worse now that it is getting colder.

If its affected more by temperature I can almost bet it is a faulty (sticky) RAP (Retained Accessory Power) relay causing it. I don't know where it's located though.
Most likely under the hood where temp. affect it more.

no. the RAP is controlled by the lock actuator...

it is built into the door latch assy.

Try this before you do anything else - disconnect the battery for a couple of hours. This resets computer logic circuits. Believe it or not, the computer controls most of the electronics. It worked for me!
