Questions about lights

Hi-

Been looking to upgrade the lighting situation on my 2000 yukon. My biggest concern initially was the reverse lighting. I just ordered a PIAA 1540 kit, essentially bumper mounted rear high beams, but I also ordered Cree led bulbs for the regular back up lights. I was just reading another post in which someone stated that putting LEDs in your tail lights causes you to lose cruise.. I have never heard this before. Is this also the case with back up lights?

Also, while searching for reverse lighting solutions, I have been checking out some HID conversion kits for the headlights. Are any of these inexpensive kits worthwhile? I can get a full conversion kit on ebay right now, halo projector lenses, bulbs, ballasts, etc for around $150+ ... Seems too cheap. Does anyone know if these are just garbage? The lenses look identical to stuff I see selling for double or more and it comes with the hid conversion.

I bought some awesome back up lights from Uhaul and the pwr comes from you 7 round plug for the trailers assuming you have tow pkg. As far as ebay goes a lot of garbage gets sold.. All from china or Taiwan or places like those.

So with one of these cheap conversion kits i will likely just be dealing with flickering lights and balasts failing etc?

You could deal with those issues.
I bought three pairs of HIDs from DDMTuning and not a single bulb or ballast has had flickering or failing of any kind and all three pairs are about a year or so old.

Led bulbs don't draw a lot of power so your truck thinks the bulb is burnt out causing hyperflash which affects the cruise control. The reverse lights are not included in this 'circuit'. You should be fine .
If you get led tail lights, make sure they have built in resistors to avoid this issue. If you get led tails that don't have built in resistors, you can add load resistors to fix this problem.

Ok, I think this is the right place for my question. I have been reading on all sorts of websites about lighting for my 2004 Yukon XL 1500.

I have decided that first and foremost that 2 driving lights are going to go on the front of my truck. These are for deer and night driving exclusively. This is the first part of my question, any recommendations for the best ones? LEDs? HIDs? what's the best for my intentions.

Second part of my question .. I fell in love with the black projector headlights. I have factory headlights now. I have read about failing ballasts, and flickering and a host of other myths about them. I have found lights from $50 to $400. What I want first choice is the brightest lights possible that spot deer and critters as I drive. My truck has a 3 inch lift rolling on some 18"XD Monsters so I am higher in the air. I would prefer to be considerate of other drivers, but up in northern Michigan along the Lake Superior shore, it gets black .. the air seems to suck the light right from the sky. From there to the western edge of Minnesota and back to the middle of Michigan gets to be a long trip, and in the last 8 times I've made this 1800 mile trip, the one thing I wish I had better of (besides mileage) is lighting. I can't set the lights on top, and the driving lights will go under my bumper between the frame xmember and the bottom of my bumper somewhere. I don't want to spend a fortune, but I also am looking for minimal technical work to install. I have also researched mobilehid or is it hidmobile website for equipment lighting with ballasts built in, but they are super spendy.
