So I read somewhere at one time that when servicing a 700r4(4L60) that you should put the gasket that goes on the tube of the filter in first, tap it in with a socket that fits. I have also heard to put it on the tube of the filter then tap it all in together(this is how I have done it). I just bought a filter kit and the gasket looks to be part of the tube, so does it matter? Is the first way described a personal preference or is that how it should be done?

Kingman? I just drove through there couple weekends ago on the way to las Vegas.

So. . . when you repaced it did you put the gasket in first or left it on the filter. Or are you saying you had someone else rebuilt it.
