Greetings all.

I've recently purchased a 1996 Yukon 4 door with 4WD. It had a set of 245/75/16's on it that were in great shape, but I wanted the 285/75/16's so I changed them out.

My question is about the spare. It is also a 245 that is in great shape. Has anybody worked out the biggest difference you can have without running into problems on the locking differential? I'm guessing it would be less of an issue on the front particularly in 2WD.

Thanks.

Yep, should be good. I stepped up the size on mine and theft the spare alone. Shouldnt matter too much as long as you arent gonna do a road trip on the spare.

Thanks Puck. We looped through Gunnison on the way to Creede year before last in our old '95 Z-71. I've been thinking of doing the Alpine loop out of Lake City. Have you done that tour?

I have not done that one. There are a bunch around here that I wanna do, Cinnamon pass to be one of them. Just havent got around to it. I do a lot of wheeling up in the Crested Butte area though. Lots of fun around here and plenty to do and see! if you are ever up this way, shoot me a PM and ill show you around and get a drink or something.

If you do use it as a spare run it on the front only even if you have to switch the tires around just because of the way the G80 diff works. I can make mine engage by spinning the tire hard enough with my hand.

that is the best video i have seen in awhile! haha mine was still in one piece when it came out, sold it and its now in another lifted truck.

x2 on running the same size rears. just be careful on the front, it may affect your steering depending on how much the difference is
