Hello,
My Z55 rear suspension are bad. The air bladder is ripped off.
My understanding is that the auto leveling won't work anymore.
Since the bladder is not like the air spring, is there a hydraulic shock absorber inside the bladder?
If I don't care about auto leveling, can I rely on the hydraulic shock absorber?
Thank a lot for clarification.

The shock and airbag are two separate things on 1 part. I do not think the shock cares if the airbag is there or not but im not positive on that.

If you've got over 80k-100k miles on the shocks, chances are that they are worn out as well. Certainly look for any leaking on them, under the torn bladders. Also, remove the fuse to your compressor.

Thanks for the feedback.
The bladders on both sides are leaking. I have removed the compressor fuse a while ago.
I have been thinking to replace them, but never actually did it. Now the front two also need to be replaced.
It's time to do four corners. I narrow down to two options, arnott vs vigor. Decision decision.

You could check out real OEM shocks at RockAuto.com or GMPartsDirect.com for much better OEM prices than the dealer.

Good luck. Just remember, you get what you pay for, AT BEST.

Arnott ended its lifetime warranty a few years ago. Vigor is a parasitic company that preys on owners with a budget.

Good job pulling the pump fuse. Run the z55 til you can’t handle them anymore. I did 190k mi on my z95 until bounce house mode started.

Replace only with OEM GM z55. They’re guaranteed for life and on our Gen III there’s nothing better than the limo ride they give to a 3 Ton truck.
