Putting aux lighting switches in cubby

Hello. I am looking to add 3 rocker switches for some auxilary lighting. One of the most logical spots to use is the useless cubby to the left side of the wheel. Any ides on how to create a cover with 3 switches in it? Use metal? ABS plastic? How much of a hassle is this going to be? Any better ideas on where to put the switches? Images? I'd appreciate any ideas or help. I am looking to start mounting my lights this week.

Take the bezel off, remove cubby, replace cubby with a piece of black plastic or whatever you can find that will work for you. put switches in, done.

Rigid industries duallys in the front on my bull bar and single off name one for the rear mounted on my cargo rack. I think I am going to do the rear one off centered to the passenger side as I have a 2 foot firestik cb antenna on the other side.

I'm a firefighter and I used the cubby spot for switches as well. Like mentioned above just find a piece of plastic and get creative with the dremel. I plan to add more switches in the future.

Thanks so much! I picked up the switches, abs plastic and everything else needed. I am planning on popping the bezel and do this project on saturday.
2 rigid industries lights on the bull bar, 1 mounted on the back of the cargo rack, maglite mount and maybe plastidip my rims.

Its a great location for switches and also for wiring. There is lots of room behind the cubby so you shouldn't have any trouble at all. The next switch I add I'm going to take pics of the area behind too.

I added a USB port inside that cubby on mine. There is definitely room back there

I put 2 usb ports inside my center console where the secret compartment door is.

Secret compartment door? Never really thought of adding a USB but thats not a bad idea.

I just took a quick minute to pop out the cubby... Its pretty thick. The plastic I picked up to go there is only 1/16. How did you attach the plastic plate? I was just thinking to cut the back of the cubby off and use the plastic plate right on top of it to hold it all in place by the pegs and clip and make it more sturdy. How did you guys attach the plate with the usb and rocker switches?

I will take mine apart tomorrow to show you how I attached mine. Here are a couple of pictures if the secret door. Not really a secret and my usb ports are for charging things. My goal was to keep things hidden as much as possible.

Hmmm I'd say my console is a little different. I already drilled through the back end of inside of the console. I ran my CB antenna cable in there. All hidden.

The denali center console is different. They have that door inside because things can fall down in there so easily when you lay them on the drink older cover. I've dropped my phone in there twice in the past couple of months

Well over all the day was a success. Added 2 LED spot lights to the front bull bar and one on the rear of the cargo rack. Deleted the cubby, added a plate with 3 switches, blacked out my red front and rear GMC badges and mounted a maglite. excuse the low quality iphone photos. I will get some real photos next time I'm out there playing.

I have added a few more switches to my cubby. Its starting to get a little crowded on the backside with all of the wiring.
