I always try to operate every switch and lever and run the volume up and down, even the washer fluid.

Check to make sure your fuel pump control model is 13554821. Find it on the drivers side about where the second row door is.
Put a catch can on it. Most like the K&N or the J&L.
check all fluid levels.
Drive in L9 for a cheap way to defeat DFM.
The 5.3 has been a tight piece of work so not much to really fret about.

It's a little late for that if you've already paid. Look into a comprehensive service plan if you don't already have one, and pray to the DFM Gods that they spare you.
“Pulled the plug”….opened this thread expecting sad news about a dog…but congrats on the new truck. Had the 5.3l over 7 vehicles and as others stated, staying on top of fluid changes, more frequently than not, disabling any of the fuel management controls and adding a catch can will keep your ride solid. Also, as it really is the same truck over the years (although quite a bit more refined suspension and upgraded transmission setup and finally lay flat 3rd row), get a code reader and don’t be afraid to jump in and tackle any issues that do arise. This forum is a great resource and DIY is fairly easy on these trucks if so inclined

it was a taxi/uber or commuter vehicle, change all the fluids asap
they owned it just long enough to run the warranty out
We love it so far! I plan to drop and change all the fluids asap. Just tinted it this morning, few more goodies on the way. One thing I ran into is we got two keys but one is key 3 so the memory features don’t work. Any way around it or is that a dealer visit?
Also got a bumper to bumper warranty for it good till 110k.

Man, fluids AND THEN tint. Mechanicals before cosmetics- always.
I always check the glovebox, console, Carfax report, whatever, for any contact info on the prior owner. If I get lucky, I'll call and ask questions about the vehicle.

I mean I'm already 105k miles in on mine, but it's the catch can really necessary? I used to run one on my cammed Dodge Magnum, but do we really get that much blowby on the 5.3?

Can't hurt, can only help ... better to have and not need, than to need and not have ... etc
Plus what the catch can does capture, even in engines with no measurable blowby, is being kept away from combustion, which keeps the engine cleaner longer.
In other words, a catch can is also preventive maintenance.

In one oil change cycle of 3500 miles I got 4 oz of junk trapped.
Over 105,000 miles this would equate to just shy of a gallon.
That's a terrifying thought.
Fluids finally arrived, placing a catch can order today. I was trying to figure out if I actually have DFM. Window sticker doesn’t mention it and RPO YK9, I think that’s the correct code isn’t displayed. I’m assuming I do and have a module in place already to just keep it in 8 all the time, thinking about getting the auto start stop harness to disable that but then again hitting a button isn’t hard I guess.

YK9 Not Equipped with Dynamic Fuel Management (Cylinder Confusion)

Note however that, when it says it's 'Not Equipped', they are making the same mistake some english majors make every now and then ...
Vehicles with RPO YK9 possess AFM or DFM hardware, but the operation of the feature has NOT been enabled in the ecm, kinda like an L92.
If you do not have YK9, you likely have part-time cylinders.
Welp we love this thing so far, got all the fluids changed out. Transmission feels a lot better. Couple things I’ll do down the line are probably an exhaust and maybe a K&N cai. Got a leveling kit on it too probably swap the wheels and tires down the line for some 22’s and all terrains.
The only other issue or thing I need to get figured out is getting the keys reprogrammed so all the memory features work. Other than that she’s a beauty! Oddly I don’t miss my truck.

DFM was never deleted in the SUV line when Covid was hitting, only in the full size trucks. So, given you have a Yukon, you have DFM.
Nice Ride, I am also a '22 Owner.
