Power steering whine

Hi all, I recently bought a 2007 suburban 1500 4wd. The power steering pump whines. I’ve changed the fluid twice the second time with synthetic. Still whining. I’ll change the pump if that’s what it comes to but I thought I’d ask first. Thanks!

Seafoam trans tune, if that doesn’t work swap the pump.

Are you seeing bubbles in your fluid? How are you bleeding the system?

Probably time for a new pump. Don't get a reman, they whine too usually!

I read somewhere that clocking the wheel with the cap off would work the air out. How should I bleed it?

Initially you should have bled the fluid with wheels off the ground and engine not running. Fill fluid and turn slowly, lock to lock and watch as air bubbles rise and dissipate at the top. Then start the engine and lock to lock some more and add fluid as needed. Then drop to ground and repeat the engine running and lock to lock and add as needed. Recheck after the first 2-3 drives.

i flushed the ps fluid in my wife's car, got some air in there by accident while i was doing the lock to lock with the return line sitting in a drain pan.

I got some pretty good whine after.
She ended up driving it for two days and the sound went away.

Now if you did the flush trying to fix it, and it's still there.
Then it may be the pump itself.
