What's so special about the shifter that everyone wants it? Tow button?

Some people swap out the nbs shifter to the nnbs shifter just for looks, the shift control wouldn't function, (I guess it might if you Really crafty or give it a separate function)
but it's weird that yours has the stitching on the front and mine has the stitching on the back (Denali)

I do but most of them broke. They can be had pretty cheap on amazon though.
