07 tahoe constantly get service park assist warning. Replaced all rear sensors, I don't use it anyway! The message on the dash bugs me, anyone know how to get rid of the message?
Thanks

OK don't have access to a scanner at the moment but I did replace the rear sensors and the red light in the interior stays off in park and reverse, but when ever I'm driving forward the service park assist lights up on the dash.
Weird, I do have a tech 2 clone at home but I'm 1000 miles from there, dash lights bug me especially on a 1000 mi trip home
Any ideas are certainly appreciated

Might try unplugging the park assist module under the passenger seat iirc..

Let us know if it works!
I did it on my '12, but there may have been a change from earlier years.

AI says you can pull the OBS DET fuse in the left instrument panel fusebox...
Might be easier, but I've seen mention that the rear hatch loses power with that fuse out (if you have power hatch)

-BUT- AI also says for '07-'09 you have to get your instrument panel programmed to not have it display that message..
So it's possible '07-'09 will display a park assist warning even when disconnected.. Sorry about that! I blame GM.

I do have a power rear hatch. So I will post back when I figure it out, just so weird that it works fine in reverse and no light in park but as soon as I go forward it kicks on? I dunno lol
Thanks

out of curiosity does it do it if put it in Low? if not it could maybe need a shift cable adjustment

It does the same regardless of shifter position, thanks
it's probably going to take a scanner then to figure it out, the error will have a code if it is active when scanned with a scanner that can read body codes, these are different than normal obd codes.
the only other thing you could check without a scanner just to see if it is the problem is to get a helper.
park or drive to a open space so there is nothing behind the vehicle
put it in reverse, hold the foot brake and then you or the helper can go to the back, stand to the side of the rear of the vehicle and use a piece of cardboard or anything really and then reach out and cover 1 rear sensor at a time and see if it beeps, if one of the four does not beep then it is defective or has a bad connection.
also be sure all of the sensors are seated properly and have no dirt or dents on them.

Would the back up camera affect this?
maybe, if the system detects a problem in either one the camera or the sensors or both
so if it says service rear vision system and the camera is not working or is doing anything strange then more of a yes

The backup camera does not work, looks like the gm ones are super expensive is there a way around that? I see aftermarket ones reasonably priced. I still don't understand why after replacing the rear sensors it only gives me the warning when going forward. Thanks

you can find used oem ones on ebay or a junkyard, or go with a aftermarket oem style that is plug-n-play.
presuming the camera it's self is bad, you can replace it. I will require a little of bit of work the rear hatch will have to be opened up, take off the inside panel and then you will have to look in there where the camera is mounted.
OFTEN, people will inadvertently break the rear outside panel off because they think it does not come off, it does come off all of it unbolts from the inside, there are bolts inside other metal panels behind the plastic rear panel, some are mounted facing in and some are mounted facing out, once you get to the actual camera it has a plug harness and it can also be unbolted, nothing needs to be forced or broken off to do it. If you can't figure it out just look harder, some of the nuts are kind of hidden.
It probably takes 20-30 minutes to get it out with the right tools and taking your time to not break anything.
the camera's do fail but it's not very common, I grabbed a couple from the junkyard to have in my tool box in case mine ever goes out, easy to grab when someone else has already done most the disassembly in a junkyard.
without using a scanner I would at least inspect the wire harness that goes into the body in the upper center part when the rear hatch is open and make sure none of the wires are broken or chaffed, sometimes that can happen if the rubber seal part has come loose or has worn out

Well thank you, it is odd because the back up camera did work when I bought the vehicle than just stopped I'll have to dig a little deeper I guess, I have a tech 2 clone on the way,so I will report back when I figure out how to use it.

OK small update I got the rear camera working, I have some crazy hi tech stereo in there I ran through the functions and got the rear camera working. It however says objects maybe reversed, so no good to me until I figure how to flip it lol. However same problem still exists, works fine in p and r but as soon as I put in d the service park assist comes on. With! Definitely going to try and dig out my scanner!
Thanks for the help

I'm at my last bit of patience on this I had 4 warning lights on for various things and I can not get rid of this pesky light. OK so works fine in park and reverse, comes on in drive but only when I stop,ie get on the highway and it won't come on until I stop, reaching for options, I can take it to the dealer but don't wanna spend the money on something I don't use but the light aggregates me.
Thank you
