painted dash to carbonfiber

this might be a stupid question but can you get real carbon fiber done after painting the original wood grain? or should i strip the paint off then get it done? This CF vinyl isnt doing it for me.

I would strip thej aply cf. Yes you caj do it its not hqrd but i woukd remove the piece you wanna cf
