Anyone here have experience with painting the rear bumper step pad? How about sanding off the ridges, smoothing the surface with filler and painting? All suggestions are welcome.

I painted my Denali rear bumper pads with Napa brand plastic dip last month when I put on a freshly painted cover. I think they came out great. They look like new dark black plastic.

Very nice! I'm going for a unicolor scheme and want to paint mine the same color as the car. I also would like to get rid of the raised skid pad relief for a completely smooth surface. i've ordered a used pad off ebay to experiment on before tackling the redo.

Ah ok. Yeah I like the one color look as well. Not sure how the bumper pads would look color matched but my curiosity has been spiked now! I’m interesting to see how the experimental pad turns out!
