On my way to work in my 2005 Tahoe Z71 2x4, the truck stumbled under acceleration. I let off the gas, pressed it again, and it took off normally. However, once I reached a stoplight, I noticed it would not shift out of first gear unless I let off the throttle. On the drive home, I also found that it would not go into overdrive.

I scanned it and pulled code P0752-2B (1-2 Shift Solenoid Valve Performance). Has anyone here experienced this issue? Is it typically resolved by replacing the solenoids, or could there be a deeper problem?

Background:
  • 198k miles, no prior transmission issues
  • Rear main seal replaced ~1,000 miles ago (fluid change at that time)
  • Large transmission cooler and billet servo installed ~10 years ago

Any advice or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like it very well could be your 1-2 shift solenoid. That one needs to be "on" for both 1st and 4th gear. Easily replaceable with a pan drop. Get quality name brand from a reputable source. Probably should replace both while you're there.
