Hey everyone,
I'm new here, but I've been reading a lot lately!
Anyway, I recently bought a 2002 Tahoe and I love it! The only thing that's wrong with it is that it is throwing a P0140 code. I looked it up and it says it's an O2 Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected (Bank 1 Sensor 2).
This is the one after the catalytic converter on the driver's side, correct? I had heard that this code didn't necessarily mean that the O2 sensor was bad, so instead of spending $60 on a new sensor, I swapped it with the one on bank 2 and cleared the code.
After driving for a while, the code came back up. It was still P0140 (Bank 1 Sensor 2). So, to me that indicates that it's not the sensor.
My question is, what else could cause this?
I wanted to check the wiring, so I turned the key to run without starting the engine and used an Ohmmeter to test the wiring that connects to the sensor. I got Ground on 2 pins, 12V on the third, and approximately 0.5V (fluctuating) on the fourth. Does that sound right?
Also, there are no other codes. It does read the P0140 twice. Once as pending.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Edit: Would an exhaust leak further down the line cause this? I just noticed it leaking at the joint between #2 and #4 here:
Finally, I assume there is a gasket that goes here to prevent leaking. Can anyone tell me what PN it is? Thanks!
2002 Tahoe LS, 5.3L Flex, 4WD, 250k miles.
