Sup guys/gals,
Every 2yrs I take off my front tint to get my truck inspected and for the past couple of months I was telling myself this time when I get it done over i'm getting the windshield done, so I went today with the intentions of getting the two fronts to match the rear again and the entire windshield done in 50%.

Well I got the fronts done but I found out that I have 3 chips in the windshield and my tinter didn't want to put heat on it because he said it might cause it to crack so I didn't get it done.

So my question is...Do you think it's worth having the windshield replaced just to get it tinted or should I just get over it and leave it alone??? The price for the new windshield and having it tinted is $200.

I would have changed the windshield after the first chip. I've had chips turn into large cracks on my car before. Bad stuff. Get the new windshield, not for the tint, for safety.

Thanks for the response, I didn't know about the chips before saturday because my windshield hasn't been clean enough to see them lately due to the weather.
It's getting replaced and tinted in the morning, I don't want to be bothered with it later leading to cracks.

If you are tinting the windshield to shield out sunlight then 50% may be a waste of money. I went from 35% to 20% because it wasn't dark enough.

$200 including tint? that might mean cheap thin un-polarized, non-IR blocking, and un-tinted non-OE glass.

I would rather have 3 chips in OE glass than weak sauce crack-prone aftermarket.

You know, the ones where you drop the wiper on the glass and the thing cracks. The ones that induce more wind noise from not being flush, and allow more cabin noise by virtue of being thinner.

Go find out how much a new OE screen is. I'd guess $500- $750. That is one part of the car where I insist on OE or at the very least OE quality. I'd honestly rather have a Good OE junkyard screen over a new low cost aftermarket.
