I want to lower my Tahoe as much as possible, and i wanted to know how low can i go using keys on the front end. Is it worth it to spend the money in keys? Should i just buy spindles? And hows the ride with keys? I do not want to spend money to lower my truck if its going to ride bad and then ill end up getting spindles anyway. I would love to lower my Tahoe to about a 4/6 drop, but i do not believe i could do that with stock tires and rims. Just please give me your opinion on what i should do.

you can do 4/6 with stock rims and tires.

keys you can only go up to 2" but I wouldn't recommend to much past 1" because it will effect your ride. To do keys, you'll want lowering keys anyways and not to use your stock keys.

okay, so how would you recommend I lower my truck. I really dont want to be dropping $1000 into suspension. I was planning on getting lowering keys for a 3inch drop in the front and rear shocks for a 4inch drop for the back. I would be happy with a 3/4 drop but Id much rather a 4/6 drop. Let me know how you would go about 4/6 dropping my tahoe.

id get spindles and keys up front and add some 5 inch springs for the back and from there get the small things if money is an issue such as shocks shock extenders shorter end links

Spindles & keys up front

springs & DJM rear hardware kit in the rear

as far as not spending $1,000, you gotta pay to play. You might be able to get stuff used, but you're still looking at spending $700-$800 used.

Nathan hit it. Gotta pay to play. Just depends on how far you'll go to make ur ride comfortable. But think certain things gotta be done on these rigs, to ride good. Adjustable panhard bar when going past 3", or RLCA will bind. Rear kit, shorter end links. Shock extenders or drop shocks. But look for deals, used ect.. I saved over $200 getting my adjustable panhard & RLCA, by getting them custom made. Just gotta be resourceful.

But think most hit it. Spindles & keys, will get you 3"-4" in front, great ride. Then add some 5"-6" rear drop springs. Keys give 2" drop, and ride will be stiffer. But think you can do keys and still ride good, if you modify jounce stops. Most don't do it, and ride suffers. Same goes for spindles & keys tho. Still gotta dial it all in. And stock wheel & tires don't matter.

Could do drop arms & stock keys, or add srop keys or arms & spindles for 3"-5" drop. But kunda have my reasoning why I think some with drop arms ride bad sometimes. Tho, would like to install some.

I use, and like McGaughy spindles, since they keep stock geo, and not as many issues with camber and bj. Also running there 5" springs and ride is good. But Norcals 5"-6" rear springs are supposed to be money. And would personally get those.

So if i was to buy lets say something like this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Tahoe-Yukon...-3-4-Lowering-Kit-Coils-Springs-/281117404496

Would that be "alright" for lowering my truck? I mean i am not looking for the smoothest ride out there i just don't want it to be real bad.

Josue is right. Would look into it, but probably not the best ride. If you just want keys, and springs. Look for a used set. But more known, reputable rear springs, with good reviews. Keys are keys, and name brand, whatever. Same for shock extenders. But would get some decently good rear springs.

Well that's heart breaking to hear. Considering i don't really have $1,000 to throw into suspension i guess i'm staying at stock height. All i really have to spend about $500.

I'm not saying not to get that. But one of these... Better off saving your money and doing it right. Then throwing away money on something that may ride like crap. Will end up spending more in the end. Trust me. Been there, done that. It sucks buying something, cause it's cheap and easy. Only to find out it rides horrible and you hate it. Do it right the 1st time. Be happier in the end bro.

Look for used springs, keys ect... and build up your suspension.

I paid barely over $500 for a new mcgaughy 2/3 kit. Spindles, springs and shock extenders. Check out their website.

Im thinking of getting this kit here:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/281117404496?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

and just getting some used spindles later on. I read up on Crown Suspension and they had a few "bad" reviews but mostly good ones. The only problem I've seen to far is that on their website the shock extenders say only for 1-3 inch lowering springs and the kit comes with 4 inch lowering springs. Kind of weird to me. They also say on the website that they don't recommend with this kit any lower than 2.5 inches on the front end.

You may be able to make it work with 16" rims. Just gotta chop the bottom of bj bolt, maybe go smaller lock nut. I was able to get a spare 17" on my front with my McGaughy spindles- with plenty room to spare. Maybe someone with 16" will chime in, or who has tried. Would try, but I don't have any 16"ers. But don't let the 18"+ rim thing scare you. It can be modified to fit smaller rims.

Just save your money and do it right the first time. I know it's hard for young people today to be patient because they are so impulsive. but be patient, save some money out of every payday, and you will get what you want. I remember saving for my first supercharger, I would watch the balance go up and got real excited when it hit my goal. I'm 52 now and I still feel that way when I'm saving for a project.
