oil presure drops

i have a 97 tahoe and when i give it gas the oil pressure drops down enough to get the gauge light to come on but then it rises back up after just second and goes back to normal what could be the problem any help would be appreciated

Oil pump is what ut sounds like. But if not then bearings might be toast

how hard is it to replace the pump on one of these

your oil pan and nearby obstructions needs to be removed and needs to be removed. but you should test with a mechanical gauge if possible to avoid unneeded replacements.

allright i should mention that it just started doing it a couple days ago and at idle it still holds good pressure and if i put it in a gear and hold the brake and give it gas its still good it only drops when i take off from a stop

very low oil level likely.
or something is wrong with the pressure sender circuit.

You have major issues, these are rear sump engines, when you take off from a light the oil should move to the back other pan and cover the pickup ... good luck lol you're gonna need it.
