oil filters

I know i've seen a post about oil filters but i can't seem to find it even using the search button... what are you guys using and what brands should i stay away from?

I personally use Mobile 1 filters, but can't really comment on the other ones...except FRAM...stay away from FRAM filters.

I just did a quick internet search and found one article slamming them for their cheap design...unfortunately no real data points. However, i've always heard from the local grease monkeys to stay away from their oil filters.

I've been using K&N for a about a year now. I really like their filters, well built and obviously a little better quality than most. Before that it was all GM stuff so I can't really speak for the others.

You won't go wrong with any of the following (no particular order):

• ACDelco
• K&N
• Mobil1
• Bosch
• Purolator
• Wix Gold - no personal experience with this one, but I've read good reviews.

I've also read terrible reviews regarding FRAM filters...avoid 'em like the plague.

I use AC Delco but am thinking about going to K&N instead because I like the nut they have on the bottom which would make it easier for oil changes and stuff. I've never had an issue with AC Delco, though

Tried the fram but it leaked really bad. Got a purolator classic and no problems. I have used the ACDelco and like them as well but the oil change special at the local parts house came with the purolator classic filter.

Frams are not bad. They just meet specification for flow and cleaning effectiveness and they do with materials that are less expensive but still capable of handling expectations to keep costs down.
