I have ordered and received OEM splash guards for my 2018 Tahoe with fixed running boards. As I held them up there I noticed a gap where the insert was molded deeper and the running board curved back to the body. I circled my summit white ones to show the deep insert and also held up to and showed a gap in them to the body of the Tahoe. The back one fit great but there are no running boards to contend with.

After looking at the community here, I noticed two things. First, they are sold like that and secondly attestion4 installed them that way. ( I borrowed his picture of them installed and highlighted the gap with an red arrow)

Question, is this gap a design flaw or is it supposed to be there once installed? Anyone else has them installed that can show pictures of the final ones on the front? Help!

Maybe to accommodate powered running boards??? My aftermarket ones fit just fine, no gap.

It looks like those are designed to also fit the squared off running boards that I seen like the powered ones. I have also seen some squared off ones on the Z71 Tahoe,

Here is the best close-up I can find, but the gap is there.. (My son is doing initial torque of the wheels)
