So this new police officer by me thinks he's a hero (Not knocking the profession as I have buddies in it, however this guys just a straight power tripped dick). I had front window tint all my life and have never gotten in trouble but lately this guy has pulled me over any and every time he sees me, mind you dangerous u-turns in traffic, etc and never given me anything but a fix-it ticket from anything from tint-replacing stock license plate bulb ticket. Basically I wanna know how hard it is to install new front window glass. I want to get a new set of glass, tint those to match my backs and be able to run them and if I get in trouble just put the stock clear ones on. I really dont break laws, and have no points on my license I just love tint, it keeps my car cool, I feel safer, and I love the look so I would apreciate it to keep the "thats what you get comments to yourself" Thanks guys! :Handshake:

It is pretty involved so I would not want to go that route. Depending on how much he stops you, just retint after getting the ticket released.

If its that bad wire in a switch under your seat with a lot of primary wire routed to both front window switches. Then when you see him put down your windows and use the toggle swtich to cut the function of the two front windows.
So when he walks up and tries to be a dick by telling you to put them up so he can meter them tell him they are stuck down and have been like that for a while. :D No laws against having your windows down.

Wiring the above in will be pretty easy but you have to actually see him before he catches your windows up.

Haha thats a pretty good idea, but this guy would probably impound my truck. He pulled me over for the 2nd time after the tint ticket and he asked why I re-tinted it and I said because I wanted too, to which he replied "Smart ass huh, well lets just see how many things I can get you for" I ended up getting 8 fix-it violations and he claimed to tell me if he catches me one more time he's going to impound my truck give me a reckless driving charge and a failure to comply. And cops wonder why they have such a bad name....

Damnn he's way too serious, must not like you, guess he is one of those "FBI wannabe cops."
You may have to just comply, or try your best to pull off getting a permission for tint by getting a physician to write the DMV over there a statement that your eyes are negatively effected by the sun.

That or take allthe FIx it tickets and the other tickets and take them to the captin and ask him why his officer is given you a rought time.... They will see its only him.... Then tell them the next time you get pulled over for nothing. Your going to file a lawsuit and sue the city and offcer if he dont lay off!

Like this one, but sorry to say it wont work. I have tried it after this one cop stopped me 4 times for it. All they say is if its illegal why u do it anyways.

I think CA is the only state that doesnt even bother with the doctors note rule even thought we have prop-215 haha. And yeah this cop has a ******* for me for something I must've done to his sad little life. And to GMC Yukon, funny you said that. My old mans best friend is the sheriff for Orange County and he told me to do exactly that, to talk to his sergeant and the best part is the sergeant of his precinct is actually a nice guy and a friend of mine.

Report him for harassment. I did that with a power tripping cop by my house and he got fired. But even if he doesn't get fired, when he goes up for a promotion it will be on his permanent file. My best friend is a cop and that when he recommended I do when it happened to me. When he pulls you over roll all your windows down and do not do any suspicious and be respectful. It goes a long way. There is no reason he should be chasing you down in traffic bc of tint, and most good judges will understand that especially if your not hiding anything. I don't know where you live but that how it is in Louisiana for my experiences. Replacing the glass is more expensive and more of a hassle than taking the tint of for court and putting it back on after IMO. Robbie is a cop, he might have some suggestions for you, hopefully he chimes in. Good luck!

it's not hard to replace the front glass with tinted glass. Any competent glazier shop can cut/polish new tinted glass for you.

As said by Modded...just get a doctor's "note" and get a permit for the tint. Way easier route and FREE (at least in Mo it is)

Anyone know a company that custom makes glass with tint built in? Id pay for them to tint the inside of the glass the color I want, than whenever I get pulled over all window tint laws would mean nothing since its not "anything affixed to the window that doesn't let in more than 70% light in". CVC loophole =)

You'd still get a ticket and be forced to replace the windows!! The law isn't a law against tint FILM...it's against having your windows tinted at all!

Tellin ya...doctor's permission is the only way around it.

In Cali the cops laugh in your face if you claim eye issues. 100% not recognized, I've tried and my optometrist is like I would if possible but in CA its not even valid. But man do my eyes get strained when sun just beats on em on the freeway

I say just grin abd bear it and leave the tint off then. You're just asking for trouble with a cop that obviously has it out for you...

Honestly you know you have illegal tint and your upset about getting a ticket for it? Not to be a dick but you know its to dark and this is what you get for doing that. Just man up and get lighter tint or play hardball with this officer and you will probably lose.

I've gotten plenty of tint tickets and just deal with it. I know its too dark and I run the chance of getting popped for it. I know it sucks but its part of the game.

You're never going to win. That's why if you're in a state that does inspections, they will fail you because your tint. No way around it. And their will always be one dick to pull you over for it.

Here is IL they passed a law to be able to tint your front windows as long as your rear windows are not tinted totally dark. If you limo tint the back windows you aren't allowed to tint the front ones at all. Thats the route I'm taking. I don't want me or my wife to be pulled over for something like tint at the wrong time, like after having a few drinks and get a DUI.

Here in Chicago, I know many people that have tinted windows and have had no issues with cops. There are power hungry dicks though. For example: suburban cops. They have nothing better to do than to pull you over for pointless violations(ie tint) but you can't do anything legally because technically that cop is completely right. It's just the way the system works, we get used to being able to slide by here and there and then one day your luck runs out. Happened to me many times.

A few years back they passed a law in Mo that the windows on the front doors could be as dark as 35% but not tint on the windshield but the rest of the windows could be as dark as you want. Some go darker than 35 but I'm sure they get nabbed from time to time. That's just the price you pay
