So sure enough, the trans took a ******** shit on me last thursday night.
I was driving along and the SES light came on. So i stopped and checked it, came up p0441, which ive been pulling for six months and has nothing to do with the trans. I started the truck up to get back on the road, and i notice i have no OVERDRIVE after driving past 50mph in 3rd gear. The next morning, i took the truck for a drive around the block, still no OD, but this time i gave it some gas to get from 40 to 50mph, and it felt like it was slipping REALLY bad, and eventually it popped out of 3rd gear. I let off the gas and it grabbed again. So after that I took the hoe to a local trans shop to run for trans codes. It came up P1870, which is GM manufacturer specific for 'TRANSMISSION COMPONENT SLIPPAGE'. He cleared the code, I drove home, which is about a mile away. I got on my street and got into third gear and all of a sudden it popped out. It felt like it was completely in neutral. So I shifted the column shifter into '3', and it drove home up the street.
I've done some research, and the P1870 code could be anything from the ignition switch which powers the solenoids, to a bad torque converter (I just bought a new one with the trans though), to a TCC valve/ plunger being f*cked up in the valve control body.
I have to call Monster Transmissions with the code it pulled tomorrow morning, but does anyone have any experience with these problems?
Mike
