Hey guys, glad to be a member on this forum.
I recently bought a stock 1996 GMC Yukon SLT 2 door. I've always wanted one, and came across a deal I couldn't pass up. The truck imediately became my daily driver. I have a mod list for the new Yuk, but it's kinda on the back burner as I work to restore my grandfathers 1978 IH Scout II. I obviously have an addiction to vintage 4x4's...but anyways..
So I was debadging my Yukon, and the paint underneath the side moulding is bubbled in some places, peeled in others. A full paint job is in the future, but not in the next few years. Here's where I need some opinions:
My 2 ideas were to fix this problem:
a) buy new side moulding and install, cleaning up the look of the old rusted peeling moulding or...
b) I like the look of the sport packages. I thought about rhino lining the rockers to cover up the blemishes in a dark charcoal gray color, and paint my fender flares to match, giving me a "kind of" sport package. I'd use bedliner up to where the dip in the body happens, just like on all the sport packages I have seen.
Any opinions are welcome. If you have any experience with either way, let me know
Also, if you know a good place to get the original moulding new, let me know.
Thanks in advance.
