I found a brand set of 4 firestone winterforce tires, studded, on craigslist for 400.00 They were not selling here in Dallas. My land rover has the same exact tires without studs and they are fantastic tires, even for here. The best wet traction of any tires I have ever owned, dry traction is par with wet.
The seller bought these tires for his denali while he lived in washington last year but never installed them
I brought them home and with a small screwdriver I removed every stud, took me 2 hours but what the hell I bought them for 300.00.
After that I took them to firestone and they mounted and balanced for 55.41 out the door.
Now before you begin preaching about the ultra soft compund of snow tires or whatever, I already have these on my land rover and they dont wear like standard tires. after two years and 23K miles they still look new and drive great....
So if your are looking for tires and run into a set, I highly recommend them,
YMMV
