Decided since I was replacing the carpet now would be a good time to replace the stereo. Installed a JVC digital media single DIN. Pretty neat head unit. No CD player; has a front and rear USB, built in HD and blue tooth. Automatically keeps the clock updated via my iPhone (which is actually my favorite feature).

Installed a basic 4 channel Sound Ordnance amp and medium grade Sony Kicker speakers. I'm not a thumper...a mix of rock and classical. Sounds nice and clean.

and now i want a sub

Well it was such an improvement now I feel it needs a sub. Nothing big, and I'd like a clean hidden install. I have the amp under the driver side of the rear seat. Is anybody running a decent sub solution under the passenger side of the rear seat? It would probably need to be a low profile sealed box and nothing over 10".

Any input would be appreciated.

anybody running something similar to the MTX FPR? Pretty good reviews so far: http://www.mtx.com/mobile/products/series/131/FPR_Shallow_Subwoofers/show.html

pics of head unit , ive seen amps stored under the rear seat , and i think you could fit a small sub in there too , however you wont be able to fold down your rear seats afterwards

I'm not too concerned about folding the seats. The 60 split folds flat with this amp, and it'll get close with a 5" deep sub box...

I have the same HU, kinda. Mine is the more basic one without bluetooth built in. It's a pretty cool unit. The only issue I'm having with it is my front aux jack is a little goofy about if its going to play out of both or just one side of the car. It's not the balance either, I checked. Have you had anything like that happen yet?

Question.....on your 4 wheel push button system. I noticed on the first button, for 2X, there's something under it. What is it? I have push 4 wheel and there's nothing under the 2 wheel selection.

I'm also going to redo my system. Will that head unit stream Pandora and music wireless?

haven't had to use it yet. i generally stream over the blue tooth unless the battery is dead, then i plug in the usb. it has a port in the back with a female usb dongle. i ran it into the cd delete tray; it's pretty slick. i can control all of the pandora functions from the head unit

yep. main reason i got it. i rarely listen to fm and haven't popped in a cd for years now. like posted earlier, the head unit will take control from your phone and do everything. in fact, if you have an android phone, you can download an app and control every function on the head unit with your phone.

super cool auto trac 4wd. :)

What do you dislike about the flip up? Just not your style?

Have to wait for it to come all the way up before I shift into reverse. Or leave It closed and then u don't have a readout. I don't watch DVDs or play CDs, I use my iPod but would rather use my android phone...

What type of flip are you running? I have a Clarion DVD VRX765VD and leave it out but it has no iphone controls. I like the DD styles but not in budget for head unit and install kit. I dont watch many movies, hell since 2006 when I got it I have watched maybe 10 full movies. Just mad they didnt make a adapter for my head unit.

@tricky....I have a pioneer avh-p5700 and it has the iPod adapter haven't watched one movie on it and don't really like the sub/bass/mids/treble tuning on the unit.

Try a cross over with a bass knob. I like my music mellow where the bass does not drown out the highs as different types of music has different low tones. I'm running off the head unit a punch 500 for the 15in Kicker Comp, and a ? 4 channel amp for the highs, can't remember name if cross over either as other than the head unit from 06 everything else is from 2000 when I got the truck new and the sub and Punch was a year or two prior to that with Alpine components in doors. All in need is IPod controls to control my 32G iPhone with all my music and dj app that mixes music automatically.

You have to adjust the sounds when turning on?

No it stays adjusted to the way I have it its just I have always had pioneer and this one seems to not adjust the sound or music the way I like it. That and it all comes down to that screen coming out and up all the time, just seems to get.on my.nerves. lol just whining I really am thinking of yanking it out and buying one like the guy above has.

I've just embraced the flip out screen for now, went ahead and bought the parking brake mod part but.still haven't figured out how to get videos to play on it through the iPod. Maybe just the format?
