New Impact Wrench

Hi y'all, didn't know where to post this so I'll post this here. I'm in the market for a new impact, my $100 chinese made amazon one isn't cutting it. I'm debating between 2 and I need some opinions here.

The first is the Hercules Ultra torque, rated at 1500 ft lbs breakaway torque, $300ish for the tool with battery and charger

The second option is a mid torque Rigid for about $130 less, with 650 ft lbs breakaway torque.

Which one would yall recommend? I want something that'll tackle even the most difficult rust seized bolts on my Tahoe, and I'm not sure if the Rigid is enough.

Not sure how your Amazon compares but I would think the 650ft lb one would be more of the same.

I’ve got a cheap 600ft lb breakaway and I use a breaker bar to get the lug nuts loosened before using the impact if that gives you any indication.

Harbor freight has the Hercules ultra torque for $179. I have a harbor freight Earthquake XT air impact wrench with a lower 1200 ft lb breakaway rating that got the Jesus bolt off a BMW m62 V8. Anyone who knows what that means knows it must be a helluva wrench. Very happy with it. I’d get the Hercules if it were my money.

I use the same one.

I also have a 3/8" gun style impact, that can actually take my lug nuts off my Z71, a 3/8" ratchet and a 1/4" ratchet. The 1/4" is my favorite for running out and down multiple screws, like on a transmission pan or oil pan.

Needed something quick a couple years ago and bought the Chicago Electric 7 amp 1/2 drive impact wrench. We use it to remove the lugs during tire rotations now, still going strong.

My Milwaukee is a beast it’s pricy but worth it and it’s been put through hell and back left in the rain dropped in water my little impact got lost and sat in the yard for almost a year before I found it! When I picked it up damn if it diddnt work I had to beat the rusted extension off it other then that she’s still good! The battery that was in it even worked and still had charge surprisingly for being in a wetter part of our yard

My impact has 4 settings 1/3 and a bolt buster which sends like shocks in waves to break it loose instead of a constant strain like on 1/3

To be honest I bought an electric porter cable impact wrench and it does the job needed without any problems. I know it;s not battery powered but it works great. Most of all my other tools are battery driven so it's not a big deal to me to pull out the cord when the impact is needed.

Thanks for the input guys, I actually found this mid torque one for pretty cheap, free battery with purchase too.

I'm just concerned for some stubborn stuff it wont quite hold up but I may try it and return it if it doesnt suffice.

I also swear by Milwaukee. But the addiction is real lol.

I have probably 15 new batteries in the past 2 years.. and doubles of most of my tools.

I have the Milwaukee line up. Low torque stubby (wouldn't recommend), mid torque (love it, use it all the time. Has done everything I need), and the high torque (it's a beast and I've only used it once). All of these are the m18. I've recommended that mid torque to everyone. It's small, light, and has plenty of ass to bust lug nuts loose.

Other guys on here have had good luck with the rigid tools and from what I hear, they have a lifetime warranty on batteries. I chose Milwaukee because my friend has a ton of them and uses them everyday in a body shop. If they hold up for him, they will be great for me.

I went with the Ridgid brushless line of tools mostly for the lifetime battery warranty. All except the big 1/2" impact are the compact line.

My Ridgid Octane impact wrench isn't their largest and only rated at 485ft forward and 620ft reverse, and I've never had a problem removing anything. I've actually hurt my wrist when using it and not having a good grip on it. I can't imagine what one of those ones rated at 1000ft or 1400ft would do
