I am about to purchase a Pioneer avh p4100 for my tahoe, but Im tired of buying all these adapters for this and that. Thing is Ive been hearing that I will lose alert chimes and rear audio controls, I also have a factory installed overhead dvd combo. I want to run my speakers off of the new headunit. So what chimes will i lose and what about the overhead dvd player?

Well there are 2 adapters you def need to maintain your chimes and steering controls and you RE unit
one is the PAC-OS2 and I forget the other one but other members on here have used them and will be able to advise you better

One is for your Bose equipment to function and the other is for chimes and steering controls

Hope this helps

i don't have any RE, but that's the adapter I used to play through my speakers and bose amp. don't miss the chimes, but do kind of miss the steering wheel controls. i'll probably have to pick that adapter up one of these days.

I'm going to swap out the radio in April and my buddy advised me I will need three parts to do this. The first one is the PAC OS-4 to retain all the chimes, alerts and bluetooth, the second is the steering wheel control module to retain the steering wheel controls and the 3rd part is the overhead DVD retention cable which is also made by PAC. Hope this information helps.

I use the GMOS-04 to keep my chimes and at one point kept my stock speakers.
its easy you plug it in to your stock harness and then there is a harness that connects to your head unit and 2 sets of RCA's the front and the rear.

I'll sell you mine if you want I have no use for it anymore because I upgraded to new speakers and an amp
